Top Designers from Last New York Fashion Week

Many designers choose to show in Paris this season but attendees of New York Fashion Week didn’t feel their absence. NYFW Spring 2018 still featured top designers and made the event a very memorable one. According to Vogue.com, “This is what the future of New York fashion looks like.”

The standouts during New York Fashion Week were not only the underground and the young designers. Major design houses also delivered trendy lines that will surely define the upcoming spring 2018 season. Below are the top designers from last New York Fashion Week.

Calvin Klein

Raf Simons, Calvin Klein’s chief creative officer, showed his take on the American experience through logo quilt, survivalist tea dress, and other pieces from their spring 2018 collection. However, fashion watchers were in awe at the diverse mix of people seated at the show’s front row, which included Jake Gyllenhaal, Mahershala Ali, Brooke Shields, Millie Bobby Brown, and Paris Jackson.

Michael Kors

Michael Kors has the most diverse group of models during NYFW. Most of them were makeup-free as they walked the runway. Some of the trendy items from the Michael Kors collection included gauzy sundresses, crocodile flip-flops, and tie-dye cashmere.

Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano held his show at Manhattan’s Pier 59 Studios. His collection featured bold colors that include grass green, sunny yellow and electric fuchsia. He employed models representing various body types and ethnicities. He filled the front row with celebrities including Cardi B, Patricia Clarkson, Vanessa Williams, Leslie Jones, and Danielle Brooks.

Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren had all 250 of his guests chauffeured from New York City to Bedford Hills to view his latest collection. Not only that, but guests also had the chance to see his rare car collection. This is because the iconic designer held his show in his garage. Aside from the spring collection, guests inspected Lauren’s vintage Alfa Romeos, McLarens, and Jaguars, just to name a few.

Male and female models walked the runway in a collection inspired by his cars that included Ferrari-red ball gowns, fringed tuxedos as dark as Lauren’s 1938 Bugatti, and silvery Prince of Wales check suits for women. Some of the A-list celebrities invited to the show included Jessica Chastain, Armie Hammer, and Diane Keaton.

Coach 1941

Stuart Vevers transformed Coach from a leather goods brand into a design house known for their collectible dresses and statement outerwear. For the spring 2018 season, they came out with a collection influenced by the early 80s New York fashion. The clothes had glitters and streetwise scribbles by the late Keith Haring.

Tom Ford

American designer Tom Ford chose to do NYFW instead of going to Paris this season. He opened the fashion week by transforming the Park Avenue Armory into a lounge. His collection featured power-shoulder suiting, sheer evening dresses, and crystal-embellished panties.

These are the top designers from last NYFW. The fashion industry in New York didn’t even felt any void left by designers who opted to show in Paris. NYFW spring 2018 is a successful event that featured major design houses and upcoming designers. It is one of the fashion events worth going to year after year.

Also, did we mention robots? Well, now we are. Imagine the Daleks in houndstooth. Or just kickin' it. Nice!
